The New “Queen” Of Dairy

The Auburn Hills Dairy Queen has a new owner, and she couldn’t be more excited.

Meet Rachel Saigh, a 22-year old lifer in the DQ business.  Her father, Joe Saigh owned the Dairy Queen in Oxford while Rachel was growing up.  She remembers standing on a stool in their store, at about the age of four, to make her first ice cream cone.  She worked there for years and grew into managing that location until her father sold it in 2015.  Shortly after, the opportunity to puchase the Auburn Hills location presented itself.

While Rachel and her father are business partners, this is her store.  With years of experience under her belt, she works seven days a week, runs the operation and has done her homework.  “It’s fun because it’s my own.” she said.  It is obvious that she is passionate about her business.  Last fall while on vacation in California, she stopped at every Dairy Queen she passed to check out their unique qualities and operations.

As the Auburn Hills Dairy Queen changed hands, Rachel kept her advertising low-key until she had lined up the ‘right’ staff.  “I have great kids working for me!” she said, which is a key part of her plan to create a happy and comfortable environment.  With her team in place, she reconfigured her space to improve the traffic flow for better customer service, updated interior signage and bought a new ice cream machine.
