The Clinton River Trail runs 16 miles through central Oakland County and through five municipalities: Sylvan Lake, Pontiac, Auburn Hills, Rochester and Rochester Hills. Recently, with grant money from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, updates and improvements have been performed on the trail. These include additional benches, sheltered picnic tables, improved signage and newer, safer crossing devices at major street intersections.
The trail is never too far from the Clinton River and, at times, offers scenic overlooks of often overlooked natural beauty. The area around the trail is also home to a multiplicity of wildlife including the nests of herons.
Now that the weather is wonderful, grab your family, friends or just yourself and hike or bike the Clinton River Trail. It is truly a hidden jewel in the heart of Oakland County.
