It’s about to get a little more convenient to pick up a good cup of joe … or Grande Soy Chai Tea Latte … whichever you may prefer.
We’re pleased to report that plans to construct a new 12,206 sq. ft. retail center called Auburn Hills Marketplace are now ready for public review. The project is proposed on the site of the recently shuttered Palm Palace restaurant, which is located at the northwest corner of N. Squirrel Road and University Drive. The estimated cost of the project is $2.75 million.
The developer, Markus Management Group, has advised the City that the anchor for the project will be a Starbucks Coffee store offering drive-through pick-up service and an outdoor seating area. The retail center is also designed to accommodate up to five additional business tenants.
Those interested in learning more about this proposal are encouraged to attend the public hearing at the Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall. A final decision on the project is anticipated to be made by the City Council on Monday, February 22, 2016.
Upon approval, the ground breaking for the retail center is scheduled to take place in April 2016 with the Grand Opening expected sometime in October 2016.
