Thumbs Up Given To Proceed With Master Plan Change

Thumbs Up

Posted by – Steve Cohen, Director of Community Development

Did you know that municipalities in Michigan are required to communicate with each other?  Yes, it’s the law in our State when creating a master plan for future development.  Although it’s a cumbersome process, we find that the practice helps neighboring communities avoid unintended land use conflicts.

We’re happy to report that an amendment to our Northeast Corner Neighborhood Master Plan was recently reviewed and supported by the Oakland County Coordinating Zoning Committee.  The group unanimously found that our plan revision was “not inconsistent” with the master plans of our surrounding communities.  Their findings are a “thumbs up” for the City of Auburn Hills to proceed with a final public hearing to adopt the proposed amendment.

The change to plan would allow a residential open space development to move forward at 3995 N. Squirrel Road.  To learn more about the proposed revision, click here

The Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing to adopt the amended master plan for Tuesday, November 17th at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall.  Those interested in learning more about the proposal are encouraged to attend.
