A Nice View From The Top

Yesterday, staff met with representatives from Republic Services to discuss the status and close-out of the Oakland Heights Development Landfill located at 2350 Brown Road.  The landfill is capped at a height of 1,270 feet above sea level.

It was a nice view from the top of the landfill. You can see the City of Detroit in the distance.

The southern slope of the landfill was closed in 2010.  The final vertical and lateral expansion of the landfill is now occurring on about 31 acres located in the central and northeast portions of the site near Brown Road and M-24.

The landfill is conservatively anticipated to be complete by Y2023.  I know that sounds like a long time away, but that day will be here before we know it.
