Lately, a lot of folks here at City Hall have been asking … Who is Dave Ramsey?
He’s not an Auburn Hills’ developer or resident. He’s not even from the State of Michigan. Dave Ramsey’s a teacher who has helped change thousands of lives over the course of his career. What does he teach? Financial literacy (a.k.a., Financial Peace).
Financial Peace? Isn’t that an oxymoron? Well, it doesn’t have to be that way.
Many don’t know that Dave Ramsey’s common sense advice is for everyone. Whether you’re already winning with money or are struggling to make ends meet, he will teach you how to save and invest, live on less than you make, and give generously.
It’s really fun because Dave often uses humor to deliver his advice. It’s not a quick fix, but the process provides so much hope.
So, why are people asking about Dave Ramsey at City Hall? My co-worker, Karrie Marsh, has a passion for helping others. She believes in Dave Ramsey’s program so much that she took the initiative (probably best described as a leap of faith) to facilitate the class for City staff on her own time. The 8-week class starts tonight, right after work. If any City employees are still thinking about participating, it’s not too late to sign up with Karrie. Call her!
Also, if anyone reading this blog would like to find a Financial Peace University class offered near their home or workplace click here. My wife and I have learned so much about how to manage money from the program. It’s a great investment.
