Gardeners Unite! Perennial Exchange Coming Soon

Posted by – Elizabeth Brennan, Executive Assistant

Grab your potting soil and gardening gloves, the City of Auburn Hills is embracing its green thumb next weekend!

The 20th annual Perennial Exchange, hosted by the Beautification Advisory Commission, will be held, rain or shine, at River Woods Park on Saturday, May 19th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  It’s an opportunity to diversify your garden at no cost!

This free event is open to anyone interested in exchanging their extra perennial plants for new varieties.  For easy trading, simply place plants to be exchanged in labeled containers with potting soil.

On hand will be gardening expert, Linda Lapinski, to give a short presentation on native Michigan plants and answer gardening questions.  Enjoy breakfast treats and coffee and hope for the best in the gardening prize raffle!  Seed packets will be available (first come, first served) so that you can try your hand at growing brand new perennials.

Pre-registration is not required for this event.  River Woods Park is located on Squirrel Road just south of M-59.  For more information, visit or call the Community Development Department at 248-364-6946.

We look forward to seeing you there!
