It seems like at least once a week someone asks me … “Hey, what’s the deal with that building at the northwest corner of Opdyke and Walton?” Well, here is a quick update.
In June 2009, the City Council approved plans authorizing construction of a new gas station/convenience store at the site. Final permits were obtained and construction started in October 2010. Unfortunately, the new structure was only partially built and the site has been left unfinished for quite some time.
Over the past nine months, our Building Services Division utilized “legal processes” to spur action at the site. As a result of their efforts, we expect significant movement on construction within the next few months. In a nut shell, the owner has been persuaded to take a more proactive approach toward completing the project.
