The Vans Warped Tour is coming to Auburn Hills on Friday, July 6th as part of their 40-stop, 2012 summer tour.   Earlier this week, the City Council approved a permit to allow the one-day outdoor music and extreme sports festival.   The event will be held in the west parking lot of The Palace of Auburn Hills.

The festival is geared towards young adults between the ages of 17-21 and includes a diversity of music genres including alternative rock, hard rock, and heavy metal.  Around 100 bands will play for up to 30 minutes each over eight stages, with several bands playing at once.   Fans can vote for the band they want to see play a longer set as the last band of the night.

The tour also brings other attractions; including professional skateboard, bike half-pipe, and wresting exhibitions.  The festival will start at 11:00 a.m. and end at 9:00 p.m.

The youth tell us this will be a really cool event.   I’m more of a Hall and Oates fan, so you probably won’t see me there.
